Well, I’ll tell ya, that Bass River Golf Course, it’s somethin’ else. Folks ’round here, they been talkin’ ’bout it for ages. I ain’t no golfer myself, Lord knows, but I hear it’s one of the best, and one of the oldest too, been around since 19-ought-ought, can ya believe it? That’s a long time, even for these parts.
They say it’s in South Yarmouth, that’s over in Massachusetts, I think. Never been there myself, but my nephew, he went once. Said it was real pretty, all green and grassy. Eighteen holes, he told me, though I couldn’t tell ya what that means. Sounds like a lot of work to me.
- They got somethin’ called a “scorecard,” I reckon that’s how you keep track of how good you’re doin’.
- And they got “hole layouts,” which I guess is like a map of the place. My nephew, he showed me one on his phone, looked like a bunch of squiggly lines to me.
- And somethin’ called “tee yardages” and “par and handicaps,” sounds like a whole lotta fancy talk if you ask me.
Now, if you’re lookin’ to play there, you gotta find it first. It’s on somethin’ called High Bank Road, number 62, unit 1, or somethin’ like that. Don’t ask me what a “unit” is, sounds like somethin’ they sell at the store. But that’s where it is, they say.
And if you’re comin’ from far away, you might need a place to stay. Seems there’s plenty of hotels nearby, in that Englewood place. You can book ’em online, easy as pie, they say. Just click a few buttons, and you got yourself a room. Fancy, ain’t it?
My nephew, he told me they got this here “Course Database,” sounds important, like a big ol’ book of information. It’s got all the details about the course, how long each hole is, and all that stuff. And you can even look at the course on your computer, see it from up above, like a bird. They call it an “aerial view,” sounds mighty high-falutin’ to me.
He also said somethin’ ’bout “2D, 3D and Mobile Planner” and “Yardage Charts”. Lord have mercy, I don’t know what any of that means. But folks who like this golfin’ stuff, they seem to care about it. My nephew, he printed out some of them “yardage charts,” said it helped him know how far to hit the ball. I just nodded along, pretended I understood.
Seems like a real nice place, that Bass River Golf Course. If you like hittin’ little balls with sticks, then I reckon you’d love it. Me, I’d rather sit on the porch with a glass of iced tea, but to each their own, I always say.
They even got “player reviews” too. That’s where folks who played there, they write down what they thought of it. Most folks seem to like it, from what I hear. Said it was well-kept and the people were friendly. That’s always a good sign, I reckon.
Anyways, if you’re ever in that South Yarmouth area, maybe you should go check it out. Even if you don’t play golf, it sounds like a pretty place to visit. Just don’t ask me to join ya, I’ll stick to my porch swing and my iced tea.
And if you need a place to stay while you’re there, don’t forget, there’s plenty of hotels around. Just search online and book yourself a room. It’s easy peasy, lemon squeezy, as the kids say.
So there ya have it, that’s all I know about that there Bass River Golf Course. Not much, I admit, but enough to get ya started, I hope. Now go on and have yourself a good time, and don’t forget to tell me all about it when you get back.
